The field of psychology is not what you think it is- it’s better.
Typically when people think of “psychology,” their brains default to the image of an old man and his patient sitting on a couch, discussing their problems. While this is the stereotypical image of a psychologist, it is accurate because they are picturing Sigmund Freud, a famous psychoanalyst.
Psychology as a whole is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. However, there are various subfields. In studying any field in psychology, you discover virtually everything about the human mind. Even better, you learn so much about yourself. The study of psychology is more than “common sense.” It involves rigorous training in topics ranging from statistics to neuroscience.
If you are someone who is motivated by money, the median national annual salary for clinical psychologists (counselors) is $70,580. Salaries vary based on the subfield, location, years of experience, and other factors.
