In Denver, continuous strikes have been ensuing across the city.
Educators outraged at the Denver school system’s low base salaries coupled with their unpredictable bonuses have taken a stand for days now.
Senior teachers who had long been in the system were receiving substantially higher incomes compared to others; this inequitable treatment helped fuel the strike.
Around 2,600 teachers participated in the strike which resulted in a net loss of $400,000 for the district within Denver. Additionally, not enough substitute teachers were able to fill all these vacant spots.
These teachers will now receive a between a 7% and 11% increase in salaries, thus alleviating the fodder for this event. Although seemingly insignificant, this agreement could set a precedent for more equality and rights for those who cultivate growth within our future.
