Between Wednesday, October 9th and Monday, October 14th, Spain Park’s very own law academy participated in the International Empire Mock Trial Competition held in New York City.
They met and competed with teams from 6 different countries, among them being London, Ireland, Canada, and more. The law academy has been preparing to present the case of Jeffrey Tam v. Castle Construction.
In this case, a young boy, Timothy Tam, was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy because his mother was inhaling a hazardous substance known as trichloroethylene or TCE. Two teams of seven, a plaintiff and defense, were brought to compete.
The plaintiff team included: Samad Gillani, Saleena Jan, Morgan Patrick, Kaddyja Jallow, Khaleb Davis-Simmons, Skylar Billings, and Megan Miles. The defense team included: Vincent Indovina, Logan Bradley, Grace Foy, Lindsay Tadlock, Erin Hosmer, Copeland Johnson, and Chloe Annakin.
The teams competed in two trials each and presented the case very well. As always, they had fun, did their best, and maintained professionalism. Special thank you to our awesome law teacher, Craig Thompson, and our super cool chaperone, Señor Cole.
