Damage of Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico was hit by a 5.9 earthquake on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Other islands were hit like British Virgin Islands, Dominica, U.S Virgin Islands and more. The damage has covered almost half of the island. 40% of their electricity has went out and 8,000 or more citizens are living in shelter or tents. Cities within the island have shelters including Yauco, Peñuelas, Guánica, Guayanilla and Ponce. These cities are providing food, showers, air- conditioned rest areas and consulting for the traumatized citizens. The island got good news that Trump has officially approved for the funding to repair damages. Although the earthquake has passed the ground still shakes and many people are afraid to return home. People are afraid that their roofs will collapse. Also many citizens are concerned if the government will repair their homes or if they will have to pay out of their own funding. Through it all citizens and high authorities are fighting for their island.
