Autism Awareness Month

Kyla Moore

It's Autism Awareness Month, which recognizes individuals who are on the autism spectrum.

The official day it is celebrated is April 2nd. Throughout the month, different organizations go to different places to spread awareness, get rid of the negative view of autism, and teach others how to support autism.

The puzzle ribbon is the universal symbol of autism awareness, adopted in 1999. The patterns represent the complexity of autism awareness. The different colors represent the diversity of people and families with the condition. The brightness of the ribbons signifies hope.

1972 was the first time national autism awareness month was celebrated.
