Running out of costume ideas for this year? Here are a few that could be fun and relevant to 2021. There are always the classic costumes like devils, witches, and cats but you may want to do something new. Here are some fun pop culture references as costumes.
Starting off with a couple musical costumes, Olivia Rodrigo’s outfits in her music videos this past year caught a lot of attention. And as her album, Sour, had a big impact on everyone this year, so could your costume. Along with Olivia, Harry Styles and his fashion sense have had a big influence this year, especially with his fans turning concerts into amateur fashion shows. Just find some extremely high-waisted pants and suspenders, and you’re good to go.
Or going on the cinema route, try dressing up as the red soldiers from the Netflix series Squid
Games. Usually the cinematic world is dominated by western culture, and very rarely do a lot of Americans take interest in foreign films and shows, but this show has broken boundaries and captured the attention of the whole world. Or if you don’t feel like being stuck in a hot mask all night, the robot from the red light, green light scene would also be a hit.
Couples costumes can be very difficult to find, some of the ones I’m looking forward to seeing this
year are WandaVision, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, and the Falcon and Winter Soldier. And we can’t have all of these costumes without throwing in some fun ones like the Berries and Cream guy and Mr. Worldwide himself. Along with some group costumes worth mentioning, the Mystery Gang, Teen Titans, and Avatar the Last Airbender. With all these fun, new costumes, you’ll have no trouble finding one for this year.
