On Saturday, January 22, Spain Park hosted the sixth annual Hoover City Schools Show Choir Showcase! Bringing together all the different show choirs from the district, the audience got to enjoy fun themes, stunning costumes, and amazing performances. And there’s nothing like a good, quick change! Attendees were also able to cast their votes for fan favorites (and yes, Spain Park won) throughout the night while enjoying Chick-Fil-a, Domino’s pizza, and other concessions.
If you were not able to check out the showcase, no worries! There is still time to see Spain Park’s Rhapsody in Blue show choir as well as other groups from around the state at their competitions in the upcoming weeks. In order, the remaining shows for Rhapsody In Blue’s competition season are as follows: the Capital City Classic at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel (1/29), the Albertville Diamond Classic at Albertville High School (2/5), the Jasper Foothills Classic at Jasper High School (2/12), and finally the South Central Classic at Homewood High School (2/19).
Rhapsody in Blue’s theme for this year takes you through the highlights of the 1960s with tributes to MLK and the Civil Rights movement, The Beatles, the first rocket launch, and the transition from black-and-white to color televisions. The variety of songs within the show consists of something for anyone, from a 60s rock lover to a Broadway fanatic. So if you missed their first few performances this season, remember to check them out at one of their upcoming competitions!
